Job Summary/Purpose of Position: The Environmental Engineer is responsible for assisting in implementing environmental requirements as imposed by DOE and other federal, state, or local regulatory agencies. The Environmental Engineer assists on projects or programs which perform environmental monitoring, regulatory review, oversight, assessment, reporting, permitting, and compliance activities. Other responsibilities include supporting chemical and radiological analysis data validation, including data management using the LIMS system. A. Education/Experience: BA/BS degree in Engineering, Natural Sciences, or related science fields or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience Minimum of two (2) years of related experience. B. Licenses/Certifications: Valid drivers license required. C. Other Requirements: Broad knowledge of environmental theories, principles, techniques, policies, regulations, and legal requirements. Developed organizational and communication skills Knowledge of industry specific software applications Preferred Qualifications: * Working knowledge of key Federal and NYS environmental laws and implementing regulations to include RCRA, CWA, CAA, SDWA, SARA Title III, TSCA, etc.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE OF WORK 1. Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; including following all safety rules, use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE), investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations. 2. Adhere to standards contained in the Company "Code of Conduct," Company EEO practices, and DOE directives. 3. Ensure compliance with DOE, other federal, state, and local environmental regulations, and requirements by developing plans and objectives which provide for project conformance. 4. Develop assessments for conducting oversight of programs to ensure conformance and develop communication paths within the project and with regulators to formulate solutions to regulatory problems and to share solutions with other DOE projects. 5. Develop program (e.g., NEPA, Environmental Monitoring, RCRA) multi-year and annual objectives by analyzing regulatory needs by collaborating with customer and senior management. 2 of 2 6. Develop program plans by determining activity time frames and resource needs (i.e., materials, staffing, logistics). 7. Support the development of financial objectives by developing program budget input, input to scheduling and expenditure approval activities, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions. 8. Participate in the control of program performance by developing changes to program objectives, plans, and related schedules.
