The Senior Mechanical/Maintenance Engineer for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics works with the maintenance and engineering teams to implement and maintain a robust maintenance integrity program. The position supports troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues with manufacturing equipment and supporting systems. The role uses problem solving tools to diagnose and repair failures as well as implement sustaining corrective actions and continuous improvement projects on equipment.

You will be a part of the Maintenance/Engineering team located in West Sacramento, CA and will be on-site. You will report to the Director of Plant Operations, VAVE and EHS, responsible for maintenance, facilities, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) project management and Environmental, Health and Safety. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support the maintenance team to keep the factory equipment running at expected output levels. Modify and/or repair existing filling, packaging and printing manufacturing equipment to improve product quality, increase OEE, decrease cost, and strengthen safety measures.

  • Work collaboratively to manage, prioritize and communicate status of line sustaining projects.

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to lead and/or support equipment design changes, continuous improvement projects, and cost savings efforts

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience OR Master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.

  • Hands on experience in supporting/troubleshooting production lines involved in high volume discrete manufacturing. Production line equipment includes PLCs, air driven systems, conveyors (edge-driver and belt), discrete part handling (such as Pick & Place), case packers, vision systems and filling equipment.

  • Provide oversight and troubleshooting for plant infrastructure including mechanical systems.

  • Experience in designing mechanical parts in CAD including geometric dimensioning & tolerancing.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Less than 10% travel.

  • Some off-shift and weekend work required.

  • Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 50lb

  • Must be able to wear protective clothing as required

  • Must be able to regularly stand, squat, kneel and walk within a manufacturing environment and around manufacturing equipment.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Medical device/Pharma industry.

  • Hands on experience with machining equipment (mill, lathe, drill press, band saw, etc.).

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) and proficiency in Office 365 suite.

  • Writing/executing IQ, OQ, and PQ Protocols, review and updates to pFMEAs, and creating statistical sampling plans (attribute and variable).

The salary range for this role is $97,800 - $134,450. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
