Summary About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Responsibilities Develop, design, direct and teach undergraduate introductory and intermediate language courses in French. Demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education and expertise in instructional technology. Provide academic counseling and mentorship to the undergraduate students (cadets) at the United States Military Academy. Lead and guide student research through independent studies and/or capstone projects. Participate in department-level service. Engage in scholarly research. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
