L3Harris Intern, Quality Engineering 1 in West Palm Beach, Florida

We are seeking a Quality Engineering Intern for summer 2025 at our West Palm Beach, FL location. This intern will be supporting rocket propulsion materials and process development. After orientation and training, the intern will perform entry-level engineering assignments under direct supervision of other engineers following established practices and policies.

60% - Provides Quality Engineering support by reviewing manufacturing planning to ensure appropriate design engineering requirements implementation, material traceability maintenance, quality record maintenance and operator and inspector sign-offs and designate inspection/verification needs. Support process mistake proofing/improvement by actively participating in improvement teams to reduce risk through the application of mistake proofing principles. Participates in design reviews to identify inspectability and producibility issues and opportunities early in the product life cycle. Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's expectations. Performing First Article Inspection execution per AS9102 requirements.

30% - Actively participates in the Material Review Board, including segregation and control of nonconforming hardware to preclude inadvertent processing, disposition nonconforming hardware, preparing for and conducting board meetings, and implementing disposition decisions. Drives corrective and preventive action to ensure continual improvement. Investigates and determines root causes of problems. Develops and implements corrective and preventive actions.

10% - Prepares comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports and presentations for both internal and external customers.

Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Material Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related major, and be returning to school upon completion of the assignment.

3.2 GPA or above

Rising senior standing or above

Ability to perform statistical analysis of data with Microsoft Excel

Solid academic track record of accomplishment

Demonstrated self-driven initiative, adaptability to new ideas, and team work experience

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
