As a 5G ORAN Field Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of various multi-location facilities and equipment in your assigned region, including maintaining cell sites, and edge and local data center installations. Your tasks will include post-construction checks, single-site verification, commissioning, site acceptance, testing, and conducting regular maintenance. Additional roles include maintaining inventory, conducting audits, and assessing network coverage for potential improvements.

Responsibilities:

• Deploy and support a CU-CP and CU-UP Network Function using VMWare Telco Cloud Automation Platform. Troubleshoot remote configuration issues

• Deploy and support DU Network Function using VMWare Telco Cloud Automation Platform. Diagnose remote configuration issues.

• Conduct cabinet inspection, verifying breaker placement, GPS cable, and backhaul fiber connectivity

• Verify site configurations power supply and GC COP to ensure site readiness for commissioning

• Confirm antenna positioning, checking for azimuth, abnormal tilts, color placements

• Perform single-site verification using the EXFO tool.

• Ensure correct fiber connection configurations at the site and the LDC, and test using the EXFO, OTDR, Fiberscope tools.

• Inspect for faulty radios manually, with EXFO and ensure site configuration on EMS.

• Triage and troubleshoot integration, commissioning, and post-launch problems in collaboration with the microwave and transport expert.

• Handle site maintenance and network alarm solutions.

• Collaborate with RF and construction war room teams to troubleshoot network functionality issues during various construction phases.

  Requirements

Skills:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a telecommunications role

• Familiarity with RAN, 4G LTE cell site troubleshooting and testing

• Proficiency in transport, RF, and full base-station turn-up testing protocols

• Knowledge of fiber and LTE remote radio heads and expertise in PIM/VSWR/MIMO/RET

• Experience with base station equipment from Lucent, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, or Ericsson

• Proficiency in T1, DACS, or OMP Telecom experience

• Experience with OTDR, fiberscope in dark and lit fiber testing

• Training in data communications, digital communications, operating systems and applications, computer support, scripting, and project management preferred

• May involve travel upto 75%

• Ability to read technical drawings such as as-builts, construction drawings, and MOPs

• Comfortable with physical demands like standing for long periods, lifting over 70 lbs., working in different climates and confinement

Preferred Education:

• Technical degree in Electronics or Telecommunications or a combination of military and industry experience is considered.
