UPMC MRI Technologist (Part-Time) in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania

The UPMC West Mifflin Outpatient Center is seeking a part-time MRI Technologist or MRI Technologist Advanced to join the Radiology & MRI team in West Mifflin, PA!

We are offering a $7,500 sign-on bonus to eligible hires for a 2-year work commitment!

The MRI Technologist will work daylight hours, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., two days per week between Monday and Friday! This role will work two rotating 10-hour shifts per week, with no weekends, holidays, or on-call hours required! Employees will be notified when extra hours are available, and the MRI Technologist will be able to work additional hours, if needed.

The MRI Technologist performs imaging procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision. This role competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnostic purposes. Additionally, the Outpatient Center works very collaboratively as a team unit to support operations. This role may be asked to fill in on other duties, such as front desk responsibilities and other tasks, when necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains clinical competencies for all exams and equipment.

  • Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.

  • Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data, including the labeling, preparation, and administration of contrast.

  • Documents patient history in electronic record, as required.

  • Prior to start of exam, reads and presents all relevant information to the physician based on protocol.

  • Ensures all exams within area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all patient information is updated and documented in Rad Assessment, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.

  • Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.

  • Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.

  • Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.

  • Performs procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving.

  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation.

MRI Technologist ($30.65 starting rate):

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date. CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • ARRT Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

MRI Technologist Advanced ($32.19 starting rate):

  • Completion of formal training in MRI-related program accredited by the ARRT or ARMRIT.

  • 2 years of MRI experience required.

  • Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
