Job Title: Hardware Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Hardware/Software Engineer to join our Compression Silicon Team. This remote position, open to candidates across the US, involves supporting projects that are validation and certification centric. The ideal candidate will gain exposure to all areas of compression, which is the backbone of every pipeline, providing lots of visibility.
Responsibilities
Develop scripts to automate the testing and verification process
Understand the functional C-models for compression standards
Analyze and modify C-models to optimize performance
Develop testbench and verification environment for Verilog/SV code
Analyze the performance of compression IPs using various metrics such as PSNR error map and visually lossless
Standardize algorithm testing proposals for different images and document them using Python
Build scripts to run different models, debug scripts quickly, and work with vendors to obtain hardware IDs
Ensure all requirements are met in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or C
Run images and simulations, extract numbers, and perform analysis
Essential Skills
Familiarity with Python and C, with the ability to write scripts to analyze and compare the performance of different compression standards
Understanding of C-Model
Experience in hardware programming
Familiarity with video/image processing, with a preference for video/image compression
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to the engineering field

Work Environment
This position is remote, open to candidates across the US. The role involves a mix of software (70%) and hardware (30%) tasks. You will work with various technologies and equipment, and the environment will be dynamic, requiring collaboration and communication skills. The dress code is casual as this is a remote position.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr.
