We are seeking a Quality Control Specialist to join our hard working and fast-paced team. This position reports to the Food Safety Manager of the division and is designed to promote development and review of the Quality Assurance Program. The Quality Control Specialist will also assist in creation and evaluation of standard operating procedures (SOP), good manufacturing processes (GMP), HACCP food safety principles, SQF Level 3 certification for food safety and quality, customer specification changes, and regulatory issues. Training and education of other employees in quality assurance is included in this position. Internal quality audits, required actions taken and resulting documentation are also the purview of this position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and review of the Quality Assurance Program
  • Participate in implementing SQF level 3 certification and HACCP principles and assist in yearly review of aforementioned with Corporate Customer Compliance Manager
  • Ensure quality of raw materials/ingredients through auditing, review, and monitoring of use
  • Monitor quality of finished products through product evaluation and communicate results to relevant personnel at bakery level and in senior management
  • Ensure specification conformance and legal compliance through evaluations and audits
  • Communicate with customers as needed for quality issues
  • Review and maintain records concerning Quality Control Points, Temperature and Humidity Charts, scale check sheets and product evaluations (internal or customer requested third party evaluations)
  • Employee QA Training---design of training materials and actual training
  • Assist with customer complaint resolution, internal and external communication for resolution
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Superior communication skills with multiple formats - impeccable grammar, writing English, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Knowledge of effective customer service techniques with the ability to represent the company in a pos itive and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of time management techniques with the ability to organize, coordinate, and monitor the work to accomplish the most possible in the time available.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal instruction and supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and make ndependent judgments.
  • Ability to follow an activity through to implementation.
  • Ability to bend, stoop or sit.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
