Job Title: Phlebotomy TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a proficient Phlebotomy Technician with expertise in phlebotomy techniques and medical/laboratory terminology. The ideal candidate will have experience performing laboratory assays, operating computer input terminals, and executing special procedures such as blood cultures, finger, and heel sticks. Excellent communication skills, including fluency in English, and strong customer service abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipunctures on adults and pediatrics, and micro collections on infants.

  • Participate in data entry and specimen processing.

  • Communicate with clients to resolve specimen concerns as required.

  • Operate computer input terminals for data entry.

  • Adhere to special procedures such as blood cultures, finger, and heel sticks.

  • Provide excellent customer service.

  • Perform other duties as assigned under the supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, Assistant Director, and/or Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientists.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques.

  • Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology.

  • Ability to perform laboratory assays.

  • Experience with computer input terminals.

  • Excellent typing and word processing skills.

  • Effective communication skills, fluent in English.

  • Strong customer service skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) in a hospital setting or reference lab.

  • Current California CPT certificate.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays.

  • Flexibility with schedule.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position in a fast-paced environment, working under the supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, Assistant Director, and/or Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientists. The role involves performing venipunctures on adults and pediatrics, micro collections on infants, data entry, specimen processing, and client communication. The schedule includes six days on, one day off, four days on, and two days off, working from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM, with flexibility required. Training will be conducted Monday through Friday, and the schedule will be posted two weeks in advance. The work environment is close-knit, with duties performed both on the floor and in the lab processing specimens.
