Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a NYS two-year Electrician Traineeship or NYS two-year electrician training program; OR successful completion of any equivalent electrical two-year training or apprenticeship program; ORfour (4) years of full-time experience in the electrical trade under a skilled journey-level electrician which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprenticeship training in the electrical trade or training gained by completion of technical courses in the electrical trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.Successful completion of the traineeship and the training program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math coursework, 45 hours of technical communications coursework, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading coursework. Coursework must be completed with an average of C or better. Additionally, successful completion of the traineeship also includes 4,000 hours of on-the-job training.If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.
Duties Description Job descriptionHIRING FOR THE FOLLOWING NYS PARKS:Bayard Cutting ArboretumBelmont Lake State ParkBethpage State ParkCaleb Smith State Park PreserveCaumsett State ParkConnetquot River State ParkHeckscher State ParkHempstead Lake State ParkJones Beach State ParkMontauk ComplexNissequogue River State ParkOrient Beach State ParkPlanting Fields ArboretumRobert Moses, Captree, and Gilgo State ParksSunken Meadow State ParkWildwood State ParkValley Stream State ParkDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties include, but are not limited to:Installs fixtures, motors, and various electrical components consistent with specifications and electrical codes.Diagnoses and resolves electrical system malfunctions.Tests electrical equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.Inspects circuits and wiring and performs necessary rewiring of systems.Supervises others in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems and equipment.Supervises and trains subordinate staff in the proper use of small hand tools, any specialized trade machinery, equipment and/or materials that are utilized in the maintenance of electrical systems.Maintains shop machinery and equipment to make sure work areas and equipment are clean, safe, and properly serviced.Operates light trucks, passenger vehicles, tractors and other equipment as required.Conducts inspections of facilities/equipment and makes recommendations for repairs or replacements.Interprets and follows architectural blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:May work weekends and various shifts, holidays, and special events.
