Knapp Medical Center is an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas. With 227 beds, the community hospital specializes in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology. Knapp serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley area, as well as Weslaco's only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery. Responsibilities
With oversight and direction from the Program Director/DIO/Administrative Director of Medical Education (ADME), the Program Coordinator is responsible for the operational and financial management of the residency/fellowship training program and support for the Program Director and Residents. The position requires a comprehensive and detailed understanding of ACGME or other national accreditation policies and hospital policies, as well as a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. The Program Coordinator will continually assess and direct a wide range of programmatic issues including long range planning, recruiting trainees, developing projects, maintaining databases, communicating with faculty and trainees regarding a range of issues, and managing internal and external program relations. The Program Coordinator is a member of the education design and leadership of the residency program, therefore, ultimately responsible for the residents within the program. This is a Professional position as such total professional behavior is a requirement. Any and all communication and correspondence should first be directed to the Program Director and DIO as needed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
High School Diploma/GED required.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of related work experience preferred.
Computer skills required.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Excellent presentation skills
Ability to efficiently and accurately manage multiple tasks and projects
Ability to work independently, with limited guidance
Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills
Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality
Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft suite, ERAS, NRMP, New Innovations
