Wernersville State Hospital, a Mental Health Facility, is now accepting applications for the Engineering, Scientific, and Technical Intern program through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services. This program is open to college students majoring in Computer Science or related IT disciplines, specifically those pursuing a Master's degree or those in their junior or senior year for the 2024/2025 academic year. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Intern, you will undergo In-Service training specific to the hospital and IT office, complemented by practical on-the-job training. You will acquire skills in various aspects of IT support and troubleshooting while applying fundamental help desk and technical competencies. This position will enhance interpersonal abilities through collaboration with the Information Technology team and other hospital personnel, providing valuable insights into employer expectations and job performance standards. Interns will have opportunities to refine their writing, communication, organizational, and technological skills.

The internship will encompass tasks related to databases, scripting, and comprehensive responsibilities in computer help desk operations, technical troubleshooting, and repair. Interns will engage in computer maintenance, equipment inventory, configuration, rollout, basic troubleshooting, user training, and other essential functions typical of a computer technician. Additionally, support will be provided for audio-visual equipment, teleconferencing tools, telephones, and digital signage. Non-technical responsibilities may include general office tasks within the IT department, such as filing, typing, inventory checks, and employee interactions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

FREE parking Work hours, especially during the time period that classes are in session will be flexible within the parameters of your school schedule, course load. IT office hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday

This internship is open to Computer Science (or IT related) college students who are pursuing a Master's degree or will be a junior or senior during the 2024/2025 school year and is willing to commit to working the entire time frame and hours mentioned. QUALIFICATIONSInternship Requirements:

Current full-time enrollment in a Master's degree or will be a junior or senior student during the 2024/2025 school year enrolled in one of the following majors: Computer Science or Information Technology related degree Good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher). Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university. Additional Requirements:

Willingness and ability to work in Berks County, PA. You must possess a valid driver's license that is not under suspension. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
