Overseeing projects with a best-in-class workforce of engineering professionals, outside vendors, and maintenance personnel while supporting the other operational groups within the manufacturing environment. Work as part of the team to develop creative solutions to a wide array of complicated problems. Failure to deliver key metrics could potentially result in serious safety, environmental, and financial impact. Regularly works with management staff and reports on key deliverables to senior management on a periodic basis. Is a self-starter and receives guidance on an as needed basis in only the most complex situations.

Monday - Thursday 10 hour day shift

Key Deliverables

  • Maintain all manufacturing production equipment within the AMAT organization, including coating production, belt fabrication, and all necessary and supporting equipment, minimizing downtime and overtime

  • Operate safely with zero recordable incidents and zero days away from work

  • Minimize cost throughout all aspects of the operation, leveraging continual improvement

  • Target zero environmental incidents and minimize environmental impact

  • Utilize a variety of problem-solving techniques to creatively solve a diverse array of complex problems associated with the manufacturing operation

  • Track production throughput and efficiency, and report key metrics monthly

  • Communicate key messages and provide management direction/guidance to all reporting levels

  • Coach/counsel and encourage/develop reports, with an emphasis on key talent retention

  • Schedule and lead monthly safety tours and report any safety or environmental deviances with the assistance of corporate environmental health and safety.

  • Work with plant management and engineering departments to plan and facilitate capital projects, including expense-related projects involving aging equipment.

  • Organize and lead annual manufacturing shutdown activities; lead weekly interface meeting with operations and engineering

  • Work with and interface with all groups within the plant including engineering, quality, operations, and production control and external to the production plant including site-wide corporate safety and environmental organizations.

  • Submit all EH&S Project Review Requests for any project work that would impact Safety, Environment, or new processes or materials as required.

Job Description

  • Manage daily engineering operations of the AMAT coating plant including solvent abatement, and AMAT finishing plant along with a diverse, cross-functional team including engineers, supervisors, and union personnel

  • Use of DfLSS/LEAN and Shainin manufacturing methods for continuous improvements, leveraging the continuous improvement process

  • Effectively communicate plant operational status on all relevant metrics to senior management

  • Actively participate in and take the initiative with all staff/management objectives

  • Assist fellow peer staff members to maintain ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, including all audit preparation and participation

Qualifications/Key Requirements

  • Manufacturing knowledge and background required, coating facility experience and/or solvent abatement/reclaim/handling preferred

  • Mechanically inclined and a strategic thinker

  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills

  • Excellent communication and team building skills

  • Proficient computer skills especially in Excel required

  • PLC knowledge and control systems experience a plus

  • DfLSS GB/BB is a plus

Education

  • BS Engineering degree or equivalent required

  • MS Engineering degree desired

  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience required
