Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking a Materials Supervisor to join their team. As a Materials Supervisor, you will be part of the Materials Management Department supporting the production team. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and a strong background in materials procurement.

Job Title: Materials Supervisor

Location: Dothan, AL

Pay Range: $25 per hour

What's the Job?

  • Direct and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in purchasing, expediting, scheduling, shipping, receiving, and inventory control to support manufacturing with an uninterrupted flow of material.

  • Coordinate with Engineering in early product development stages, providing information on the cost-effectiveness of various design attributes requiring purchased materials. Review and approve all purchase orders.

  • Monitor inventory levels in storage and work areas to ensure material availability in production.

  • Research and select suppliers. Develop and maintain good vendor relations. Negotiate price and terms with suppliers.

  • Work with Quality Assurance and vendors to improve the quality of purchased materials and reduce defects. Review engineering change notices for impact on purchased materials and make appropriate changes.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in business or materials management, experience in lieu of degree will be considered

  • 3 – 8 years of experience in materials procurement in a manufacturing environment. At least 3 years of supervisory experience.

  • APICS Certification preferred.

  • Excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
