The candidate for the Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) engineer position in the Powertrain and Chassis team at Michigan assembly should be:

  1. Capable of trouble shouting warranty claims with diverse root causes (product design, supplier quality or assembly process)

  2. Work with assembly line operators and team leaders to improve assembly effectiveness and reduce variability.

  3. Work with Internal Quality team to quickly address and cut-off incoming quality issues from suppliers.

In this position...

  • Review incoming warranty claims data on a daily basis, review customer and dealership comments, bin claims into proper binning categories, contact dealership/s for parts and repair diagnoses, participate in customer call back to ensure proper understanding of customer feedback, review returned parts for root cause analyses and develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions

  • Support assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, Root Cause Analysis and other Quality related tasks

  • Lead engineering commodity changes and cost reduction actions into current production vehicles

What you'll do...

  • Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific sub-systems and work closely with Supplier partners for subsystem components to address quality concerns

  • Lead engineering trials and the implementation of running changes for the sub-system

  • Issue engineering Alerts and initiate and/or pursue authorization of engineering Concerns for product changes to support Quality objectives

  • Engage technical experts and functional team members for driving resolution and in developing corrective actions to improve product Quality

  • Maintain sub-system or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level Quality documents (SAQ, Top 20 concerns) and quality action plans

  • Make presentations to various levels of upper management (weekly VRT report out, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers reviews)

You'll have...

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering,

  • 1+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment

  • Product development and/or production Experience with Powertrain and/or Chassis systems

  • Ford Warranty systems knowledge of ECB, BSAQ, GSAR

Even better, you may have...

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Working knowledge in WERS, BSAQ and SREA systems.

  • Experience with Problem Solving Tools/Methodology (e.g. 8D, 3L5Y).

  • Demonstrated Technical Problem Solving Skills: root cause identification and analysis, developing. Containment Actions and Permanent Corrective Actions and PRA.

  • Ability to establish a systems engineering approach to problem solving.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools for documentation and presentation.

  • Engineering Problem Solving; root cause identification and analysis, developing Containment Actions and Permanent Corrective Actions.

  • Working in a fast-paced challenging environment.

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8.
