PROLEC-GE WAUKESHA Winding Designer Technician in WAUKESHA, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB SUMMARY This role is responsible for completing the transformer winding layouts for designs of varying complexity. This may also include detailing and or checking other designers work. Designers work closely with the Design Engineer and other engineering support to ensure that winding design and detail is per the electrical design of the transformer. Designers are also responsible for loading the long lead BOM related to the core, winding and insulation material in the system. Designers are also responsible for meeting schedule dates per the master plan of the company. Designers are expected to utilize any and all programs to complete assigned tasks effectively. These programs include but are not limited to: Microsoft Word - Microsoft Access - Microsoft Excel - Microsoft PowerPoint - Microsoft OneNote-SAP, etc. Designers are responsible for their design and layout and review their design with shop personnel. Designer are expected to communicate with the vendors to discuss the design requirements when required. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Complete winding design of transformers including preparation of winding sheets, BOM based on Electrical design and documentation provided in project design folder, standard practices, and/or from technical advisories (TA). Calculate dimensions, allowances, and specifications per standard procedures or general design knowledge of shop capabilities when standard procedures do not exist. Verify and update programs as required. Provide technical support and training of others when required. Assist the supervisor in the planning and scheduling of the design and detailing processes. Responsible for directing or executing corrective action when shop problems are encountered. Consult with shop and QA personnel in the interpretation of engineering information. Assist on development projects as requested by supervisor. This may also include completion of standard processes or practices and computer programs. Recommend and develop new procedures to improve the efficiency of the design and/or detailing process. Designers are responsible for providing the disposition to the NCs related to their work and work with the trouble shooting team to provide guidance to the manufacturing to resolve shop issues. Suggest cost saving ideas to reduce material and throughput time.
