Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electronics reliability engineering and failure analysis lab operations- responsible for Energy Technology business group.

  • Develop, motivate and drive a group of high functioning technicians and engineers to excel in their area of expertise.

  • Coordinate and monitor daily activities, ensuring adherence to schedules and timelines. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.

  • Periodic assessment of talent and foster talent acquisition practices and performance manage technicians and engineers.

  • Drive the team to meet Generac’s high product performance and reliability standards.

  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and workflows to optimize lab efficiency. Ensure and maintain safe operational practices in the lab work environment.

  • Oversee inventory management, procurement, calibration and maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.

  • Lead the build out of failure analysis lab capabilities and create and maintain operational procedures for detailed and timely failure and root cause analysis.

  • Create detailed reports documenting all findings and conclusions.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in the analysis of failures, troubleshooting, and root cause determination.

  • Manage third party resources (external labs, consultants, etc.) to fulfill delegated work packages including statement of work development, scope management, commercial agreements, and Engineering reports.

  • Assist the leaders with budgeting and planning as needed.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in the analysis of failures, troubleshooting, and root cause determination.

  • Ensure standardized on-boarding procedures and guidelines.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

  • 12+ years of relevant work experience that is aligned with the “Essential Duties and Responsibilities captured above”.

  • 5+years of people management experience.

Additional Skills Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Electronics, or related discipline.

  • Experience developing and/or validating power electronic products.

  • Experience in advanced electronic failure analysis tools and methodologies.

  • Experience with renewable energy products.

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
