JOB SUMMARY: The Graphic Designer III develops effective ways to get messages across in print and electronic media using color, type, illustration, photography, and various print and layout techniques; collaborate with the internal team, ad agencies, writers and web content specialists to blend copy with graphic designs for maximum impact and to build brand equity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communication design or related field, or equivalent experience.
5 years design experience working in Adobe/ Creative Cloud. Must provide portfolio covering years of experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience designing for widely varying audience’s e.g. general consumers, business executives and technical professionals including contractors, builders and engineers
Experience working in a variety of media (print, digital, retail, packaging)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Work directly with sales and other marketing personnel and product teams to create layouts for communications materials.
Work closely with creative and marketing team members as well as other departments to help develop, implement and lead efficient work flow and processes.
Mentor junior design staff.
Conceptualize and design for all design needs, across all media, including work on branding initiatives, logos, Projects include decals, UI/UX, print ads, sales materials, direct mail, promotional flyers, exhibit displays and signage and other published materials.
Scopes and plans large-scale design projects.
Assist with the development and maintenance of file management systems.
Direct communication with vendors to support project success on low- mid volume production projects. Has understanding of print production (determine paper/ substrate selection, binding needs, fulfillment requirements, mailing requirements and press checks for final proofing and editing before production).
Contribute to retail line review process that includes planograms and shelf set up.
Contribute to, packaging process from die-line to print with an understanding of different printing processes and their outcomes.
Establishes and maintains templates and brand look to ensure compliance to existing standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to create compelling, clear and focused designs that meet sales and marketing objectives.
Demonstrates understanding of design principals, current design trends and branding excellence. Knowledge of current graphic design software, tools, and techniques required.
Excellent skills in communication and creativity.
Skilled in problem solving as work is both team-based and individual, depending on the specific project.
Ability to multitask multiple projects and tight deadlines.
Ability to work closely with internal and external teams to create compelling clear design work.
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to follow brand standards and understand how to adapt them when working on complex projects
Ability to work independently on multiple projects within a team environment across a large organization
Has a high understanding of current and future brand and how it applies across media. Able to identify inconsistencies in brand integrity, and understands how to react and solve these issues.
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
