What to expect on the job:

  • Collaborate with our creative and passionate team of engineers, product managers, industrial designers, graphic designers, and brand managers.

  • Lead technical design and development of systems that include packaging of electronics and electronic component integration from concept phase through production.

  • Collaborate with our production teams to deliver design packages, turning ideas into reality.

  • Bring skills and experiences that will help lead Trek in creating the next meaningful and innovative solutions in the bike industry.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 3+ years of design experience in product development.

  • Experience engineering mechanical system with integrated electronic components and modules. This includes defining performance requirements for such systems.

  • Execution experience of multiple project cycles from concept through production.

  • Experience with system test developments for mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Understanding of how to design plastic components with considerations of manufacturing process constraints, resin property differences, sealing, and fastening.

  • Experience using CAD modeling software (preferably Onshape) to create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings

  • Ability to understand and apply GD&T methodology.

  • Skills in structural analysis, design failure risk analysis, design for manufacturing and assembly, test plan creation, test result trouble shooting, and creation of technical documentation & reporting.

  • Eagerness to take a hands-on approach to prototyping and learning or identifying problems.

  • Ability to bring a creative approach to solving open ended technical problems. A drive to innovate!

  • Willingness to develop strong working relationships and communication with an international team and travel as required.

  • A strong commitment to continuous improvement in products, processes, and personal growth.

  • Ability to take on multiple projects with the appropriate level of delegation and time management.

  • A candidate who embodies humility, determination, motivation, approachability, and strong teamwork.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in design analysis, including FEA (Finite Element Analysis).

  • Capable with bike assembly.

  • Design experience with battery packs and electric motors

  • Design experience using sustainable materials.

  • Experience working with and communicating with suppliers across the globe.

  • Design for manufacturing using composite materials, plastics, and metals. Experience with manufacturing processes such as: tube forming, welding, forging, CNC, casting and injection molding along with a basic understanding of manufacturing costs.
