Job Title: Summer 2025 Research Lab Intern - Hardcoat

Summary:As an intern on our Hardcoat team, you will assist with running specific tests, process and present data for interpretation. Depending on skill level, you will assist or run lab experiments under supervision or with limited autonomy as needed for the current projects. You will also participate in group sessions addressing technical problems in current projects and proposed solutions to overcome them. Participate in all aspects of R&D activities to understand the requirements of the field.

Responsibilities Include:

Coatings development for Functional Coatings Team

• Formulation, synthesis, application and curing of coatings

• DOE

• Wet synthesis and formulation development

• Thermal cure and UV cure systems

• Primary applications: Automotive and architectural glazing

• Analytical testing of cured films

• IR, UVVIS, film build, formulated viscosity, mechanical testing

• Data Analysis of cured coatings

• Document experimental procedures and results

• Analyze data using statistical methods and assist in interpreting results

• Report out findings to group/greater intern group

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

• Interest in hands-on work in a laboratory environment

Program Requirements

• The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship.

• The candidate is expected to be available to work in person 40 hours a week for 10-12 weeks between May and August.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, crouch, twist, turn, lift, and move about the facility. Walking, walking on irregular surfaces, and balancing will be required. Reaching, feeling, finger movement, grasping, hearing, sight, and the ability to speak clearly will be required. Regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. The ability to wear personal protective equipment, and the ability to pass a fit test and wear a respirator is required for most positions.

What We Offer:Base Pay Range: $22.00 - $26.00
