Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Responsibilities You will serve as the engineering manager concerning technical and general program management of design development, design documentation, test engineering and support for the TRIDENT II and advanced FBM Missile-borne instrumentation system. You will develop specific electrical, performance, and reliability requirements for all missile-borne instrumentation system including radiation-hardening requirements. You will ensure integration requirements with other missile systems including reentry, flight controls, and guidance are met. You will establish quality assurance and inspection requirements necessary to sure high system reliability. You will evaluate technical, cost, and schedule performance and initiates corrective action when necessary. You will analyze and evaluate ground and flight test results and initiates appropriate action to assure performance and reliability requirements are satisfied for developing and deployed systems. You will lead and participate in working group meetings of contractors, consultants, supervisory to analyze and formulate programs and methods design, development, and operational problems. You will coordinate new technology studies, including appropriate budgetary, planning, programming, and ultimate implementation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the basic education requirement, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or NH-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer/physicist collaborating in multi-organization efforts, providing the development, design, evaluation, budget, analyzing problems and determining solution in the support of missile systems and subsystems. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: 08XX- Professional Engineering Series: Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Degree: A professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university; OR a degree with curriculum in differential and integral calculus, with additional courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics; or electronics; OR Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Substitution of Education/Experience: A combination of education and experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering; and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (a) professional registration, (b) evidence of successfully passing the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination; (c) successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified above; or (d) successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering provided that it included at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Salary Clarification: NH-04: $139,395 - $191,900 **This NH-04 position has a control point. This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-04 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15. This position is part of the Navy Nuclear Deterrent Mission.
