SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting with surgical procedures in an operating room. Their duties include gathering and organizing all surgical tools needed for a procedure, assisting surgical teams by handing them tools, prepping patients under the direction of a RN, assisting with transport of patients to and from procedural areas, assisting with positioning of patients on surgical table, cleaning surgical suites post surgery and re-sterilizing the operating room instruments post-surgery.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across the multi-disciplinary team settings.

  • Openness to new approaches, methods or technology in the ever-changing healthcare setting

  • Provide a positive customer experience by involvement and resolution of customer concerns

  • Develops patient care plan using critical and analytical skills based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.

  • Effectively apply technical knowledge to problem solve and act as a role model and resource person for other staff members

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred

  • BLS certified

  • 1-2 years clinical experience preferred.

  • Display knowledge of care required by infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, school age, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

  • Ability to use their hands quickly and with precision.

  • Requires a keen attention to detail to keep operating suite and equipment sterile and clean

  • Display good listening skills in order to comprehend and quickly respond to the needs of the surgical team during a procedure such as getting additional equipment or supplies.

  • Display a good memory is necessary in order to avoid the repetition of lengthy explanations for tasks that need to be completed.

  • Ability to be comfortable working under pressure.
