AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking aSystems Engineer (SME) with expertise in any or all of these areas:

A Day in the Life of aSystems Engineer (SME):

  • Architect, design, develop, and implement engineering solutions for CBP programs.

  • Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal solutions for the organization.

  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.

  • Lead program SELC tailoring development and preparing the final SELC Tailoring Plan for program management staffing.

  • In coordination with the assigned LSE (and applicable leadership teams), provide oversight, development and technical leadership of engineering documents as identified in the program/project SELC Tailoring Plan.

  • Provide program leadership of all technical matters relating to the product(s).

  • Provide technical direction, in alignment with Program Management views, to all engineers assigned to the program / project.

Job Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Active CBP (BI) or TOP SECRET clearance REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years' experience (or High School and 16+ years' experience).

  • Experience in one or more of the following:

  • Network Communications

  • AI (Artificial Intelligence)

  • Enterprise Architecture

  • Cybersecurity

  • Cloud Engineering

  • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject-matter experts.

  • Must have practical experience and project management knowledge necessary to manage large and complex program requirements and initiatives.

  • Knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and SharePoint are required.

  • Previous experience in applying systems engineering policies and processes in compliance with the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection systems engineering standards / procedures.
