Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the non-profit sector, based in Washington, District of Columbia. As a Staff Accountant, you will be integral to our team, handling a variety of tasks related to accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger upkeep, and month-end close procedures. You will also have the opportunity to utilize NetSuite in your daily operations.
Responsibilities:
• Handle accounts payable and receivable activities, ensuring all transactions are accurate and timely
• Conduct regular bank reconciliations to verify the organization's financial position
• Maintain the general ledger, posting journal entries as necessary
• Perform month-end close procedures, preparing financial reports for management review
• Utilize NetSuite for various accounting activities, ensuring data integrity
• Monitor customer accounts and resolve any discrepancies or issues
• Process customer credit applications, adhering to established guidelines
• Maintain accurate customer credit records, updating information as necessary
• Take appropriate action on customer accounts based on account status and company policies.

Requirements
• Must hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a related role
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations
• Knowledge of General Ledger handling
• Ability to prepare Journal Entries
• Familiarity with Month End Close procedures
• Must have experience in using NetSuite accounting software
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must adhere to confidentiality and maintain high ethical standards
• Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and regulations is a plus
