ASFC Federal AFSS is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems. We are seeking a Senior Records/Documentation Management Specialist to support a NASA contract in Washington D.C. Work location is flexible to report to either NASA HQ in Washington, D.C. or NASA Goddard in Greenbelt, MD.

Job Description: Full-time senior-level Records/Document Management support in the areas of records management and document management for the Mars Sample Return (MSR) Program.

R e sponsibilities:

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of required compliance documentation regarding NASA Records Management Program Requirements and the NASA Records Retention Schedules, (NRRS 1441.1).

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in records management, supporting MSR program at NASA HQ.

  • Serve as the records liaison office and support all activities for file plans, close-out, and National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

  • Work closely with NASA HQ MSR personnel, including SMD records management lead, to develop, manage and maintain an organized records management system and ensure compliance and good records management practices are in place.

  • Provide senior level support in areas such as advising on formats for ease of download capability, building end item data packages, advising on correct document markings in coordination with the Configuration Management Lead.

  • Provide recommendations and develop new streamlined processes in response to changing and growing needs in records management.

  • Provide records management support to complete the yearly Program Organizational File Plan following the NASA Records Retention Schedule, NRRS 1441.1.

  • Ensure all business needs and legal, regulatory and system requirements related to records management are met and ensure compliance.

  • Provide coordination and support in implementing electronic records management policies, processes, and procedures across the program.

  • Provide support in records management program activities such as electronic record dispositioning including inventory, appraisal, and disposition.

  • May serve as lead resource for dealing with highly complex retention issues and confers with superiors on unusual record retention or compliance matters.

  • Navigate and communication NARA needs and prepare projects to ensure they understand and working towards meeting those requirements.

  • Provide defensible deletions as aligned to retention schedules.

  • Ensure applicable meta-data is provided for all applicable records stored.

  • Supports the development and implementation of an Enterprise Records Management Taxonomy and Classification Schema.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Understands the principles, concepts, and techniques in the field of managing Federal records and enterprise content management systems (ECM), through all phases of the paper and electronic records life cycle including creation, collection, maintenance, use, and disposition.

  • Outstanding proactive customer service with strong problem solving skills and the ability to anticipate customer needs by recognizing areas of opportunity and quickly providing solutions.

  • Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability and confidence to work with executive level customers and leadership.

  • Data management experience in a technical/engineering environment required.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate successfully with a program team including program management and technical leads.

  • Ability to take direction from leadership and distributing information to team members, stakeholders, and leadership quickly and efficiently.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Outlook, SharePoint Online, Box, TDMS.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated analytical skills.

  • Must have the ability to balance multiple priorities and produce quality work efficiently.

  • Ability to work on-site during normal business hours.

  • Individual must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC.

  • Some travel may be required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 4 or more years of professional experience or 5 or more years of experience in lieu of degree.
