Requirements
The Senior Planning and Budget Analyst performs specialized financial, accounting, or planning activities to support financial functions such as budgeting, financial planning, and financial management. To be successful in this role, they must have the ability to analyze complex financial data, develop reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis, and can manage multiple simultaneous complex projects. The Analyst is expected to perform any or all the following activities:
Analyze budgets and financial data and relay fiscal information relevant to stakeholders, including but not limited to: trend analysis, variances from budget/projection, and year-to-date results.
Conduct research and fact-finding investigations and communicate trends and projections to the Manager and appropriate staff.
Assist in preparation of recommendations and analytical presentations related to budgets, financial plans, statistical reports, business forecasts, and internal policies.
Develop and coordinate complex projects and assignments.
Identify problems and specific issues in a budget particular area, advise the supervisor from compiled data, and recommend solutions or alternatives.
Work Interactions
The Senior Planning and Budget Analyst will report directly to the Senior Finance Officer/Finance Officer, leading planning for assigned units, and coordinating with analysts to relay functional activities for execution and budget authority. Meets regularly with assigned units to monitor and refine financial plans along with actuals. Due to the breadth and variety of assignments, the Analyst must be excited by the challenge of analyzing financial data, enjoy working independently & anticipate needs and proactively plan ahead, be willing to self-educate to lead new initiatives, and have a passion for education and service.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; Preference for Master’s Degree
Minimum 5 to 7 years of proven experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience with large financial database systems, particularly Workday, and Adaptive Software Applications
Ability to analyze and manipulate data sets in Excel and transform data sets and quantitative analysis into compelling visuals; Advanced Excel skills preferred
Ability to understand budgets, budget development and implementation, and related financial reporting
Solid analytical skills with the ability to think strategically
Financial acumen to review and analyze expenditures against budget plans
Ability to run, compile, and analyze complex sets of data and reports.
Understanding of financial forecasting and an ability to learn financial and budget strategies
Understand (and develop, interpret, and implement) financial concepts for financial planning, resource planning, and control of organizational budget.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.
Adaptability and flexibility with attention to detail
Ability to triage challenges and requests, resolving or escalating issues for resolution as necessary
Experience in data and budget analysis, managing cross-functional matrix teams, exploring creative solutions, and fostering collaboration

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
