CareFirst Senior Corporate Strategy Consultant (Hybrid) in Washington, District Of Columbia

PURPOSE:
Provide opinion-driven, analytical research for senior corporate decision-makers on emerging and future-focused healthcare sector trends. Facilitate dialogue with executive leadership to inform and shape CareFirst's strategy development. Provide business-related support, strategic analytics, and development of executive presentations. Projects will vary but may include evaluating and developing proposals for new industry initiatives, identifying changing industry dynamics and upcoming trends and evaluating both for strategic impact, building business cases to justify an investment, analyzing business opportunities, developing business strategy, and problem solving.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Analyze existing, macro and emerging healthcare regional and national trends and scenarios, technologies and industry disruptors, and derive implications for our business strategies. Research subjects could include but are not limited to new sector mergers and acquisitions, new disruptors in the field, network models, innovative payment models, horizontal and vertical integrations of existing and emerging competitors, new and emerging technologies that improve care or reduce health insurer costs, best practices in specific aspects of care delivery, and leading companies that develop new and emerging technologies or care delivery best practices.
Facilitate and assist in driving special projects and strategic initiative development throughout the organization. Provide issue specific research and analysis to support strategic direction. Facilitate targeted and broad stakeholder meetings. Collaborate with internal Corporate Development organization to support innovation process. Establish project goals, milestones and procedures, define roles and responsibilities on projects, acquire project resources, coordinate all projects, monitor project progress to plan, manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Collaborate with Corporate Market Intelligence team, Corporate Development and other internal stakeholders and sources of data to assist in distilling industry research findings into key actionable insights, clearly communicate results and recommend action items that align with or recommend changes to corporate and divisional strategies.
Develop a broad external network and build relationships with health care industry thought leaders to gain insights into health care delivery, health technology, clinical and pharmaceutical developments, population health, and insurance market structures. Consult with subject matter experts to develop a comprehensive understanding of the relevant trends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree.
Experience: 10 years healthcare industry experience including strategic planning, strategy & portfolio management or marketing strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA and/or strategy consulting experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Strong quantitative and qualitative skills.
Practical experience using analytical tools such as SAS, Excel, SQL for financial modeling, market sizing, and similar analyses
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Comfort facilitating executive audiences and influencing them towards decisions (including flexing between inquiry- and advocacy-based approaches)
Passion for training, mentoring, and coaching early career colleagues

Salary Range: $148,320 - $265,122
