Job Description

Successful candidates for positions in the U.S. Bank Law Division consistently provide excellent advice and guidance to clients and colleagues on a variety of legal matters. The U.S. Bank Law Division is seeking an early- to mid-career attorney with renewable energy experience or an interest in renewable energy. The attorney will work with the Assistant General Counsel - Environmental Finance and support the Environmental Finance business team, which provides project financing, tax equity investments and tax equity syndications for renewable energy projects. The Environmental Finance team is a business line within U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance and the successful candidate will also engage in meaningful collaboration with the broader Law Division including the team that supports U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance.

Location Details

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

Basic Qualifications

  • Licensed by and in good standing with the appropriate state bar association or other appropriate state attorney licensing authority

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Five years of experience, at least some of which is in renewable energy project finance or tax equity finance experience at a law firm or in-house legal group

  • Experience documenting project finance or tax equity investment transactions for renewable energy projects in the U.S.

  • Experience interpreting and explaining complex contractual provisions to non-lawyers

  • Experience managing project finance or tax equity fundings

  • Experience working on syndicated finance transactions

  • Experience negotiating engagement agreements for transaction advisory services

  • Experience or interest in providing monitoring-period legal advice

  • Experience or interest in maintaining ancillary form agreements and internal processes and procedures

  • Interest in and ability to learn and maintain compliance with bank regulatory requirements applicable to renewable energy transactions

  • With supervision and support, ability to respond to litigation matters of limited complexity that affect the environmental finance business line

  • Ability or potential to implement equitable practices into daily work

Commitment to continuous improvement in systems and processes

  • Demonstrated experience with, or potential to gain current knowledge of, state and federal tax credit laws and regulations and commercial lending laws

  • Commitment to legal ethics and ethical business practices

  • Willingness to respond to written and oral interview questions

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Ability to lead tasks with minimal oversight after receiving training

  • Desire to learn and to solve complex and novel problems

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $144,160.00 - $169,600.00 - $186,560.00
