Constellation Senior Association Relationship Manager in Washington, District Of Columbia

Expected salary range of $121,500 to $135,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Senior Associations Manager reports to the Director of Association Sales. Ideally, this individual will be based in the DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area and is responsible for working closely with the existing sales and marketing teams in order to develop relationships and improve the penetration of Constellation with various associations and industry trade groups located primarily in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

PRIMARY DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Establish a strong working relationship with the executive leadership of existing and targeted associations and trade groups and gain support or endorsement of Constellation as the preferred energy supplier for electricity, gas, renewables, energy efficiency, and energy solutions.

  • Develop and execute strategic sales initiatives to drive growth and revenue within the association sales channel.

  • Take necessary steps to ensure association partners and members enjoy a superior customer experience with Constellation in furtherance of Constellation’s business goals.

  • Implement a communications and education program with the association to maximize exposure and messaging to association members about Constellation and its value proposition.

  • Build relationships with association members by engaging in numerous networking and opportunities in conjunction with regional sales leaders and BDMs. This would include but is not limited to luncheons, board meetings, speaking engagements, trade shows, golf outings, and other special events.

  • Provide the association with a reliable resource for their membership regarding "energy" topics (market updates, legislation, risk management and procurement strategies) through a variety of approaches/ education programs directed to the members of the association. This will be achieved through mailings, newsletters, and seminars/webinars throughout the year.

  • Negotiate and review contracts, track Constellation's obligations and customer obligations, chart fees/payments for each association, and determine if new contracts need to be executed.

  • Be responsible, in collaboration with Marketing and Sales leadership, for the development of sales and marketing programs and business strategies that can be applied consistently and with exclusive dedication to existing association relationships and new associations that Constellation desires to become involved with. Examples include lead generation campaigns, seminars, special offers, web marketing, contributing articles on energy to association newsletters and monthly publications, ads in association publications, branding at trade shows, sponsorship of golf events, energy-related webinars and more.

  • Work independently to achieve the above goals, but also be able to work with other functional areas including Marketing, Legal, Pricing, Operations, and Sales (individual BDMs and the sales team as a whole) to achieve individual and team goals.

  • Work with Business Development Managers to manage the pipeline of renewal and new association member customers and prospects.

  • Develop forecasts for each Association channel. Track progress against the business plan, and develop and execute strategies to meet and exceed the business plan.

  • Take steps necessary to ensure accurate and timely reporting of Association channel results.

  • Identify and share best practices for Association channel management with the rest of the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in engineering, business or marketing or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible, professional experience in B2B sales and/or marketing, with a track record of proven success working with C-Level executives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of energy markets and regulations: The ideal candidate would possess an understanding of the energy markets and regulations in DC, MD, VA, and PA. This includes knowledge of utility tariffs, regulatory policies, and rules governing the procurement of electricity, natural gas, and energy efficiency programs.

  • Knowledge of current and pending utility legislation in DC, MD, VA, and federal laws impacting electricity sales and customer profitability would be a plus.
