Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 4 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in public policy topics relating to cybersecurity, national security, geopolitics, or AI issues.

• Experience in delivering impact by contributing to policy programs.

• Ability to understand trends and develop strategy across issue areas and geographic boundaries.

• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders.

• Excellent communicator with the ability to write and present clearly, adapting a message to varied audiences.

As a member of the Security Center of Excellence (COE) within the broader team, you will provide policy expertise on a range of issues relating to intersection of geopolitical conflict and technology policy, including policy and regulation related to cybersecurity, supply chain security, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. You combine expertise with an interest in building coalitions and strategic partnerships, and help shape Google's participation in a range of external forums. You understand the U.S. and global political and regulatory contexts on tech policy, cyber security, and national security. You have an interest in looking around corners to anticipate the evolution of the policy debate.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $108,000-$158,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. • Contribute to the development of Google’s policy strategy on diverse security topics such as infrastructure, cybersecurity, AI security, tech in conflict, and threat information sharing.

• Analyze current and proposed policies, and identify and monitor cyber and national security policy issues that may affect Google.

• Develop company-wide positions, narratives, collateral, and programming.

• Engage with external stakeholders on legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives.

• Contribute to shaping Google's engagement with policymakers and regulators, as well as participation in external stakeholder forums and working groups.
