Google Security and Privacy Policy Lead, Android, Google Play in Washington, District Of Columbia

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • JD, MBA, or Master’s degree.

  • 6 years of experience with data privacy or security systems.

  • Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy.

  • Experience with the mobile app ecosystem, data security and privacy or related issues.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. The Google Play, Android, and Chrome Web Store (CWS) Policy team is an essential component of Google's Trust and Safety organization, with responsibility for developing and launching new policies and serving as policy experts on cross-functional teams. As a Policy Specialist for Google Play, Android, and CWS Policies, you will lead and drive high-impact, global, cross-functional Security and Privacy initiatives, including the development and launch of new behavioral policies, supporting training and escalations post-policy launch, and accumulating expertise in mobile app data privacy and security domains. Additionally, you will serve as the Google Play and Android Security and Privacy policy expert for cross-functional teams such as Product, Operations, Engineering, Developer Relations, Business Development, Public Relations, and Legal to achieve consensus on critical, cross-functional policy issues.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$185,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Drive research and collaboration to set industry standards and advance education around the first principles that define our approach to trust risk areas.

  • Support Google Play and Android policy strategy execution, identify policy gaps, and resolve high-profile policy issues coming from the public, regulators, users, and internal stakeholders.

  • Engage internally with stakeholders across Google Play and Android and externally with key influencers and SMEs to identify and analyze emerging security and privacy threats, abuse trends, policy gaps, and opportunities, and make recommendations on how to address them.

  • Partner with Operations to evaluate and improve enforcement processes and guidelines and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure policy analysis and recommendations consider all teams’ perspectives.

  • Review or be exposed to sensitive or graphic content as part of core role.
