We are seeking an experiencedRecords Management Support Specialist who has a proven track record of successfully implementing and maintaining records management systems, delivering presentations and communicating clear ideas to multiple levels of understanding, and adapting to new challenges and expectations.
Position Summary:
In this full-time position, the contractor will establish a Department of Energy (DOE)-compliant records management system from scratch. The role involves understanding the organization’s functions, managing various types of records, and collaborating with Federal program office staff. Staying informed about policies from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and DOE’s records management oversight office is crucial for success.
Responsibilities may include:
Coordination of file plan development and maintenance, including ensuring they are submitted on time and meet DOE requirements
Create and deliver records management trainings
Attend monthly DOE records management working group meetings
Establish and manage regular communications with the office records liaisons to provide general records management updates and requirements
Serve as the lead in building the records management system and structure for MESC
Implement records management requirements across new and existing systems
Conduct records management onboarding and offboarding of staff
Qualifications

6+ years of records management experience with a focus in Federal records management
Knowledgeable about Federal laws and regulations, DOE Orders, and Requirements pertaining to records management
Knowledgeable about Federal records schedules (NARA, DOE, and General Records Schedules) and record types
Must have a strong understanding of the NARA requirements for electronic records and be able to facilitate compliance/implement standards for records management
Must be experienced in applying the Universal Electronic Records Management requirements (UERM) to records management systems
Able to “speak the language” of records management to communicate with leadership and with records liaisons and/or general staff about tasks and deliverables they will be responsible for contributing
Experienced in project management (i.e., conceptualizing/developing a records management system and plan, implementation, maintenance)
