JOB SUMMARY

This is a great opportunity to become a motivational and supportive leader within Melwood. We are seeking a Planner Estimator with passion for the industry and drive to support Melwood’s mission. The ideal candidate should have a PMP certification, along with five (5) years’ experience in commercial construction activities in Federal owned properties. The incumbent should have experience in the preparation of budgets, pricing, quality control, and other contract plans and reports for large custodial contracts, excellent management & communication (writing and verbal), people skills, and experience in dealing with high-level government/industry personnel.

Key Requirements: PMP Certification, 5+ years commercial construction project management experience

  1. Act as a liaison for the Projects Manager interfacing with vendors to obtain technical information, schematics, specifications, cut sheets, test reports, startup reports, warranty letters, etc.2. Assist with review and execution of the scope of work, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, etc.3. Develop and maintain project schedule and glide path to ensure it meets budgetary, performance, and timeline goals.4. Assist with scheduling construction, equipment installation, access coordination, outage coordination, etc.5. Monitor and inspect, under the supervision of the project manager, the work in progress to ensure that work is being performed as planned and in compliance with safety codes and safety regulations.6. Assist Projects Manager in constructability issues; evaluate proposed field changes and estimate change orders.7. Maintained project records and archives and produced various reports.8. Maintain critical project information continuously in the computerized maintenance management system (Maximo).9. Assist Projects Manager with identifying qualified vendors, reviewing credentials, certifications, past performance, etc.10. Assist with meeting with vendors, customers, internal staff, etc.11. Perform all other duties and projects as assigned..

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

The incumbent is supervised by the Project Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PMP Certification, 5+ years commercial construction project management experience

  • Knowledge of using a computerized maintenance management system, Maximo, is preferred.

  • Knowledge of using scheduling software, Smartsheet, is preferred.

  • Knowledge of using estimating software, RS Means, is preferred.

  • Experience with Government Contracting work.

  • 30 Hours OSHA Certification is preferred.Must have a valid driving license with an acceptable driving record.

  • This position assists the Projects Manager in managing numerous facilities projects, including building restoration and repair, HVAC, lighting, equipment and controls, interior renovations, roads and grounds, fire prevention systems, and environmental, safety, and pest control work orders.

  • The core working hours are 7:00am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday

  • This position requires pre-employment criminal background checks, base security clearance and drug testing
