Hogan Lovells Pitches and Pursuits Manager in Washington, District Of Columbia

Our global MandBD team supports the firm on a wide range of business development, marketing, and client relationship management activities. The team is divided into a number of key areas: Clients and Markets, covering Industry MandBD and Client Development; Pitches (where this role sits); Practice MandBD; Campaigns and Projects; and Corporate Communications, which comprises PR, Brand, Design, Events, InterAction and Digital.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Collaborate with the practice area and sector MandBD teams to develop responses to client proposals and pitches, to support the firms business development requirements.
  • Leverage Hogan Lovells award-winning Pitch to Win process to ensure pitch materials are consistently client-focused, compliant, and easy to evaluate.
  • Design and develop high-quality pitches for clients in the public and private sector.
  • Research and review relevant market, industry, competitive, and business information for the preparation of successful pitches.
  • Coach lawyers and pitch teams on presentation techniques and handling QandAs; and conducting post-pitch evaluations to obtain feedback and trend analysis.
  • Collaborating with other administrative functions within the firm, including the finance team, pricing team, compliance team, and the general counsels office, to ensure alignment and gathering of relevant information for pitch completion.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating standard pitch content in pitch database.
  • Design and deliver materials for forthcoming strategic pitch opportunities.
  • Help to identify inefficiencies in the pitch process and develop plan(s) to address.
  • Continuously look for new areas of growth and help develop a strategy for further pursuits.
  • Keep abreast of relevant market and competitive intelligence.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proven experience of marketing, business development, or proposal experience in a professional services, corporate, or agency environment.
  • Significant related experience of developing and managing credentials, proposals, tenders or other written sales tools along with relevant work experience in a legal or professional services environment is desired.
  • Comfortable working in a high-pressure environment and have a strong understanding of effective proposal and business development strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and (internal and external) client-facing skills.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence and persuade, write clearly for an international audience together, and with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent team player with the desire to use initiative, to be proactive, and to act autonomously with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with the global MandBD team and with partners across the international network with the confidence to challenge and coach them on client development best practice
  • Able to think laterally.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic self-starter with a can-do attitude.
  • Commercial and strategic in Outlook.
  • Pragmatic, robust, diplomatic and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities.
