Federal Maritime Commission Management and Program Analyst (Special Assistant to the Deputy Managing Director) in Washington, District Of Columbia
Summary This position is in the Office of the Managing Director (OMD), Federal Maritime Commission. The incumbent serves as a Special Assistant to the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and reports directly to the DMD, is vested with broad discretionary powers and executive authority to act within established policies of the Managing Director (MD) and the DMD. The incumbent assists in managing the compliance of a portfolio of administrative, technical, and professional service programs. Responsibilities As a Management and Program Analyst (Special Assistant DMD) you will: Prepare written reports on data collection activities, analyze trends and patterns compliance with Commissions policies and regulations, and makes recommendations for corrective action. Gather and evaluate administrative data to develop complete decision packages, staff studies, recommendations, and special reports and prepare executive briefings for reporting on administrative accomplishments. Represent the DMD at conferences and meetings with leaders of the Commission and officials of other Government agencies, Congressional officials, members of the shipping industry and public, and representatives of foreign nations. Advise and make recommendations to the DMD on pressing and significant administrative and budgetary developments having immediate or potential impact on Commission functions, operations, and activities. Serve as the primary technical advisor to the DMD to support all aspects of their daily work routine in determining the compliance need for policies, plans, goals, organization, and courses of action for all aspects of the Commission's strategic objectives related to agency administration (budget, finance, contracting, facilities management, and human resources). Qualifications You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Provide advice and recommendation both orally and in writing on administrative program compliance matters and advises on the feasibility of operating plans, suggestions, and proposals; Make recommendations to management to ensure agency resources are aligned with mission goals, programmatic priorities, policies, and statutory requirements; Work on special projects in coordination with administrative and program office Directors and makes recommendations to the Management to ensure agency resources are aligned with mission goals, programmatic priorities, policies, and statutory requirements. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
