Koniag Technology Solutions, LLC is seeking an Interior Designer in Washington, DC to act as primary contact between our office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) The Interior Designer will have essential multi- discipline team representation and be self-motivated, well organized, design oriented, and customer focused.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs the implementation of projects through all the phases of design; programming, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development and construction documentation / administration, when warranted.

  • Manage and coordinate schedule, hours, and work output with multiple in-house disciplines and/or consultants.

  • Monitor established standards and guidelines to ensure that project complies with scope, schedule, and budget.   

  • Shape, develop and champion client relationships, existing and new.

  • Work closely with Design Principals and SMEs across the globe to advocate an inter-disciplinary design approach and philosophy; promote integrated design approach across firm.

  • Leads programming effort, developing programming documents and associated deliverables.

  • Leads effort on multiple significant projects or large-scale projects.

  • Champion design excellence through quality of deliverables

  • Directed by the Design Director and/or Design Lead, work is performed under consultative direction toward long-range goals and objectives; has decision-making authority on major issues, differing to a Design Director/Lead

  • Plans and programs layout of project(s); coordinates and integrates all other discipline elements into unified design for client review and approval.

  • Maintains schedules on interior scopes of work, responsible for deliverable milestones and the team’s production.

  • Performs work of complex scope

  • Conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with detailed design documents.

  • May prepare client project presentations studies, and reports.

  • Participates in new project pursuits as well as engaging with current clients to identify and curate opportunities for continued or additional services. May also lead and develop new client relationships and pursuits.

  • Represents organization, with internal and external personnel, on significant matters.

  • Utilizes computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans.

  • Periodic travel to construction sites should be anticipated.

  • Interacts with all levels of management internally and with external personnel and clients.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Self- motivated team player with a positive attitude

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited school

  • NCIDQ certified.

  • 15 years’ minimum experience in a commercial environment

  • Government design experience a plus

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Experience in construction documents, CSI, and FF&E specifications.

  • Understanding of building codes, ADA requirements, and LEED sustainability

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Top Secret Security Clearance

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
