Job Description

The Information Assurance Analyst is part of a team in charge of identifying, developing, and reporting threats to the organization-s technology risk posture. Basic qualities necessary for success in this role include the capacity to remain flexible and attentive under stress while handling several deliveries under strict goal delivery deadlines. You need to have a solid understanding of technology, risk, and security, in addition to strong organization skills and the ability to feel comfortable speaking to upper management.

What you get to do every day:

  • Monitor incoming Service Desk Mailbox for Information Security related incidents and the correspondence with effected users

  • Report all security incidents and monitor system recovery processes, ensuring the proper restoration of information security features

  • Monitor the Cisco-based firewall infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient network operations

  • Assist in identifying, implementing, and assessing common control frameworks within the network security domain

  • Update relevant changes to the system and assess the security impact to the ISSO for maintaining the System Security Plan (SSP)

  • Participate in annual security assessments to ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards

  • Serve as a member of the Configuration Control Board, overseeing the management and documentation of cybersecurity-relevant software, hardware, and firmware configurations for network devices

  • Ensure that information system security requirements are integrated and addressed throughout all phases of the system lifecycle

  • Establish, review, and manage audit trails, making them available as required by policy or regulatory compliance

  • Retain audit logs following organizational and customer policies

  • Promote security awareness and implement measures to prevent the introduction and proliferation of malicious code

Qualifications

What skills are required?

*US Citizenship, Public Trust Eligibility required*

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology/ related field, or an additional five (5) years experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of general experience in information assurance, with a strong focus on cybersecurity tools

  • Experience with VPN, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and content filtering

  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and effective team collaboration

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

What is ideal?

  • Experience with cloud security principles and technologies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Administration (Security and Compliance Portals)

  • Knowledge of ITIL-related best practices and/or service desk experience

  • Familiarity with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible)

  • Proficiency in using scanning tools and methodologies to identify Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and vulnerabilities. This includes an understanding of various techniques for detecting and mitigating potential security threats.

  • Knowledge of compliance standards (NIST 800, CSF)

  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Security+) highly preferred

  • Knowledge of Cisco firewall solutions (e.g., ASA, Firepower) and a firm understanding of network protocols and principles

  • Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture and its various components, applying the principle of least-privilege access for all entities, granting them only the minimum level of access required to perform their duties

Location:

  • Role will require travel to the client site in Washington, DC no less than twice weekly

  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $75-85K. This does not guarantee a specific salary, as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
