Summary The primary purpose of the work in this position is to assist in the planning, organization, maintenance, and support of all National Teacher Programs and Projects. These include but are not limited to the Summer Institute for Educators, the Massive Open Online Courses, Teacher Focus Groups, Teacher Media Production, and Virtual and On-Site Teacher Workshops. Responsibilities As the Gallery Support Specialist, you will: Additionally, working closely with the supervisor, the incumbent writes and designs educational materials and content for teacher audiences, as needed, such as original drafts of new online course pages, slide decks, lesson plans, poster text, and art information summaries. The incumbent fosters positive working relationships internally and externally. Through maintaining positive working relationships and clear, professional communication with others on the team, in the department, and throughout the museum, the incumbent ensures smooth running of the programs. Through establishing positive relationships and clear communication with teacher programs’ audiences, the incumbent ensures that participants in teacher programs are well-informed and warmly welcomed, including drafting clear email communication, responding promptly to phone and email inquiries, and interacting professionally and supportively in virtual and in-person meetings and programs. The incumbent works with supervisor on building external collaborations and partnerships, such as advertising programs with educational associations, collaborations with other museum education professionals and teachers across the country, research partnerships with universities and researchers, collaborations on content creation with thought leaders, and technical collaborations for online courses implementation. Incumbent fulfills administrative needs of teacher programs and projects, working within PLE-GL and other departments as needed, such as maintaining organized program records, digital and paper filing, attendance and enrollment statistics, media permission forms, contract drafting and ushering through our legal and financial review processes, participant reflections, program evaluation and audience survey data, purchases, travel arrangements, payments to vendors, and precise record keeping on three budget lines. Incumbent helps maintain inventory of supplies for Teacher Programs, assisting with researching and ordering supplies, organizing supplies in Studio and other program spaces, including preparing materials in advance of programs and assisting with timely cleanup of spaces after programs. Qualifications Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for NF-0301-09. For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the NF-07 level in the federal service, designing a curriculum for teacher audiences. Teaching – Skill in writing curriculums and planning gallery experiences for teacher audiences. Communication – Knowledge of communication techniques for students, donors and administrators. Community Building – Ability to build relationships with stakeholders for both schools and museums. Administration – Knowledge of administration processes in order to maintain records, order inventory and organize spaces and documents. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration under merit promotion procedures.
