Micro Systems Automation Group Financial Analyst (FAA) in Washington, District Of Columbia

Summary Description:

MSAG is building a team of analysts (from entry-level through Senior II) to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on a broad range of research, service analysis, strategic planning, systems engineering (SE), technical, financial, and programmatic support services, and other aviation related support services, that will enable the FAA to accomplish its National Airspace System (NAS), Mission Support, and other aviation related mission objectives.

The final position will require a subset of the following responsibilities/specific expertise in federal and FAA financial matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Classify, monitor, and summarize financial data for the preparation and submission of reports on a recurring basis.
  • Provide cost/benefit study, financial analysis, analysis of alternatives, return on investment, cost estimation, present value, and other analyses in support of capital planning and investment control.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and document of complex financial analysis projects such as financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, working capital, and investments.
  • Provide analysis for forward-looking financial and business-related projects.
  • Prepare forecasts and analysis of trends in manufacturing, sales, finance, general business conditions, and other related areas.
  • Identify trends and developments in competitive environments and present findings to senior management.
  • Conduct special financial and business-related studies and cooperates with other departments in the preparation of analyses.
  • Create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensure financial information has been recorded accurately.
  • Performs financial forecasting and reconciliation of internal accounts.
  • Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Qualifications and Educational Level/Years of Experience:

  • Varies for specific position.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related subject area such as accounting, finance, or economics is required plus 5 years of relevant experience OR Master's Degree or MBA in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience OR PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 7 years' experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a MRPT.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience relevant to knowledge of FAA Accounting practices, Government appropriation process, or Office of Management and Budgets 300 development support.
