Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Field Supervisor supporting customers at the Department of Homeland Security Headquarters on the St. Elizabeths Technology Services II (SETS II) program.

The position will involve close coordination with the Project Managers, Engineers, Foremen, and Technicians working on installing passive cabling infrastructure and active IT devices in the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security (CISA) Headquarters project on the St. Elizabeths Campus in Southeast Washington, DC. Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supervising the team(s) installing, terminating, and testing category 6/6E cabling

  • Leading and supervising the team(s) installing, terminating, and testing large pair count copper riser cabling

  • Leading and supervising the team(s) installing and testing fiber riser cabling

  • Leading and supervising the team(s) installing and testing pre-terminated fiber station cabling

  • Leading and supervising the team(s) installing and testing work area wall plates and/or Passive Optical Network (PON) optical network terminals (ONTs).

  • Leading and supervising the team(s) installing communication space components, i.e., cabinets, racks, fiber/copper patch panels, wire management, grounding and other components used in communication spaces

  • Leading and supervising the team(s) installing and testing both copper and fiber patch cords in communication spaces and at end user locations

  • Assisting with quality assurance checks in the equipment rooms and on the floors where teams are installing

  • Assisting the Safety Manager to ensure that all site safety procedures are followed

  • Working from design documents to include schematics, elevations, diagrams, run lists, written and verbal instructions

  • Coordinating with the Project Mangers, Warehouse Manager, and Program Logistics/Procurement teams to call up material and stage in necessary locations for upcoming installations.

  • Coordinating with the Engineering/Implementation IT Lead for the project/program to assign resources and coordinating any issues in the field

  • Coordinating with Passive/Active Engineers for installation questions/troubleshooting

  • Coordinating with the General Contractor on site to resolve issues in the field, with awareness of when to involve additional stakeholders

  • May be required to diagnose and isolate malfunctions and make necessary repairs

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned

  • Participates in special projects as required

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in the construction, information technology systems, passive cabling, or electrical spaces, or equivalent education plus years of work experience (i.e., associate degree or specialized training technical certifications, training)

  • Experience leading teams of technicians, assigning resources to specific job locations and reporting progress to management

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with on-site teams, both internal and external, and uphold a high level of professionalism and respect with all Campus personnel and teams

  • Ability to read technical drawings, including rack elevations, run lists, floor plans, and to tie these to construction-type drawings (electrical/mechanical plans, power diagrams)

  • BICSI Installer Training Copper and Fiber Level 2 preferred

  • Must be able to obtain a DHS Entry on Duty (EOD)

The likely salary range for this position is $105,622 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
