Responsibilities As an Energy Industry Analyst, some of your typical work assignments may include: Conducting and coordinating support, education, and targeted outreach programs for OPP’s constituents. Developing and recommending policy for the Division and advising on program emphasis and direction including identification of key outreach opportunities and strategies for program implementation. Conducting or participating in the comprehensive analyses of public participation issues associated with complex and controversial filings to facilitate the public’s greater understanding of Commission processes and to solicit broader participation in matters before the Commission. Developing public outreach and educational materials regarding Commission authorities and processes and taking action to resolve or coordinate the provision of technical assistance. Conferring with members of the public, including landowners, representatives of environmental justice organizations, consumer advocates, and other external parties on issues related to the OPP focus areas. Explaining complex regulatory policies, Commission rules, regulations, precedent, and practices for the purpose of facilitating public participation, resolving technical issues, discussing industry trends, and exchanging information. Developing educational content and informational materials written in clear, concise language that supports public awareness of FERC proceedings, improves the understanding of FERC processes, and fosters public participation. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or National. You must provide your SF-50 (see Required Documents section). A one-year probationary period may be required. A background investigation is required. **This is a bargaining unit position. Generally, male applicants must be registered with the Selective Service. Relocation expenses will not be paid. You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is defined as: experience performing outreach activities, research, or analysis on regulatory policy or industry issues related to energy infrastructure or markets. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
