WSP USA Consultant, Project Management in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Summary

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager for our Washington, DC office . Provides assistance with managing the administrative, commercial, and technical components of assigned project(s) in accordance with WSP’s core values and the level of project services agreed upon in the contract by WSP and the client(s). Tasks include responsibility for the overall performance of the assigned project(s) including financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule. Ensures that responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, project startup and planning, project execution, reporting, and project closeout) are adhered to, delivered, and audited with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable corporate standards for execution, profitability, quality, safety, and operational purpose.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Project Specific

  • Actively participate in project meetings

  • Maintain quality logs and develop a schedule of deliverables for the quality group

  • Serve as a cross-functional liaison for Branch Quality Managers

  • Ensure adherence to Quality deliverables against established dates and project schedule (NCR turnaround, audit findings/response, quality assessment completion)

  • Consistently monitor due dates, responses, and other information related to active NCRs

  • Communicate with clients to continuously define project objectives

  • Coordinate all project team members so workflow remains on schedule

  • Work closely with Auditors and Senior Program Quality Manager for reporting on metrics for NCRs and audits

General

  • Participate in the development of project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans.

  • Participate in developing the work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks and estimated costs.

  • Update documentation within designated systems and processes, including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan as necessary.

  • Assist with facilitating project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.

  • Work collaboratively with Project Accounting to assist with monitoring and tracking project metrics, estimated time-to-completion, cash management, and budgeted margin for a project or an assigned portfolio of projects.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and control.

  • Coordinate with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontractor requirements in a timely manner.

  • Assist with overseeing subcontractors, and coordinating supplier submissions, invoices, and payments.

  • Immediately communicate and escalate any project site Health & Safety or client issues to senior PM staff and leadership.

  • Participate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholders.

  • Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers.

  • Liaise with the Procurement Department to closeout procurements and/or supplier agreements as appropriate.

  • Complete formal project closeout activities, along with conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting with key project staff.

  • Develop sufficient financial acumen to understand project financial data.

  • Remain current in the latest Project Management techniques and practices (PMAP).

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Business or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical firm.

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in a project management role within our industry.

  • Understanding of project delivery process within the A/E/C industry and defined background and experience in project management.

  • Competent analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management.

  • Capable critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.

  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.

  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Works independently with minimal oversight and strict adherence to QA/QC.

  • Well-developed with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.

  • Bias towards action and a solution-focused orientation

  • Effective at coordinating resources, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to complete tasks competently and efficiently.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $73,100-$125,400

WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
