HarmonyTech Azure Gov Cloud Architect in Washington, District Of Columbia

HarmonyTech, Inc. is looking for a well-rounded Cloud Architect with demonstrated experience with Sybase ASE Database and Azure Gov Cloud. Additionally, the individual will have the capability to guide the client on future initiatives that pertain to overall migration initiative. Furthermore, this individual will be a high performing, motivated professional to provide thought leadership, best practices, and an ability to grow the client.  

The Work shall be performed at HarmonyTech’s Fairfax VA location and/or client’s location, in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to a Sybase ASE database migration project from on-premises to Azure Gov Cloud.

  • Capture AS-IS on-premises database and applications architecture

  • Design and implement Azure Gov Cloud based TO-BE architecture for ASE Databases and applications

  • Set-up and configure Disaster Recovery site in Azure Gov Cloud

  • Analyze, design, develop, and deliver secure Azure Gov cloud solutions, by creating optimal (cost vs performance) Compute, Storage, Networking and Database architecture

  • Manage all aspects of technical solution design, including capturing of security requirements, identifying risks & opportunities, and alignment to information security policies of the client.

  • Maintain overall design documentation and implementation oversight.

  • Provide expert level guidance on Cloud design decisions, standards, and operational practices.

  • Work with application development teams and provide guidance on migrating applications to Azure Gov cloud and help address risks and issues as appropriate.

  • Support the ATO process for the migrated databases and applications

  • Communicate problems, risks, and challenges to drive discussions across key stakeholders

  • Maintain thought leadership role in cloud technology, remaining up to date on offerings of various cloud service providers, especially Azure Gov Cloud.

Requirements:

  • At least twelve (12) years of professional work experience required

  • At least ten (10) years’ experience with Sybase ASE Database required. Experience with Sybase ASA is a plus.

  • At least five (5) years’ hands on experience with Azure Gov Cloud working as a Cloud Architect.

  • Required experience with sizing and pricing of Azure Gov Cloud Compute, Storage and Network resources and services, especially with Azure Large Instances (ALIs) and autoscaling.

  • Experience in cloud-native logging, monitoring and operations tools required. Experience with Cloud monitoring services such as Azure Monitor or equivalent tools is a must.

  • At least three (3) years’ experience leading large (> 1 TB) Sybase ASE database migrations, with expertise on database migration and synchronization tools.

  • Experience with ATO process in Azure Gov Cloud is required.

  • Possess expertise and implementation experience on both Windows and Linux

  • Implementation experience with Microsoft’s Express Route connectivity to Azure Gov Cloud is a must

  • Experience in one or more container technologies such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Red Hat OpenShift, Azure Container Apps required

  • Experience in DevOps implementations with Infrastructure-as-Code, Configuration-as-Code, Policy-as-Code, etc. with technologies such as Terraform and Ansible is a plus

  • Good understanding and experience with Azure Marketplace offerings is a plus

  • Experience with other cloud services providers such as AWS is a plus. 

  • U.S. citizenship required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field of study, required
