The Global Health Law LLM Assistant Director will provide leadership, daily operational responsibility and control for the Law Center’s graduate programs in global health law. The incumbent raises awareness of the programs among prospective applications and employers, and oversees the recruitment of a diverse and talented group of students, relations with alumni of the programs, curriculum development and evaluation, recruitment of adjunct faculty to offer specialized courses in health law, evaluation of applications for admission to the program, career and academic counseling for students, and development of internship and externship placement opportunities. Working closely with the Faculty Director, the Executive Director of the O’Neill Institute, and the Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs at Georgetown Law, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Strategic planning to increase the reach and impact of the academic and capacity building programs and ensure continuous innovation in terms of substance and delivery.

  • Outreach and collaboration with US and international partners including academic institutions, international organizations, governments, civil society, private sector organizations, and our alumni network. Outreach activities, including presentations at conferences and academic institutions, strategic communications, and one-on-one engagement with prospective students, interns, and fellows, builds the profile of our programs and supports recruitment and job placement.

  • Admissions and candidate selection, including reviewing application materials, conducting interviews, and determining funding and scholarship awards.

  • Curriculum development and extra-curricular programming, including identifying opportunities for innovative health law course offerings, identifying and recruiting adjunct faculty members, and delivering professional development and social extra-curricular programing.

  • Academic and career advising, including providing guidance on course selections, ensuring compliance with degree and certificate requirements, reviewing resumes and cover letters, and identifying internship and employment opportunities.

  • In addition to directing the L.L.M programs, the Assistant Director may also engage in teaching and/or research projects for the O’Neill Institute.

  • Provide leadership, daily operational responsibility and control of Georgetown Law’s graduate health law programs and the O’Neill Institute’s Capacity Building initiative.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Successful candidates will have a J.D. degree, or another appropriate graduate degree, and 3-5 years relevant job experience in health policy and law; Specialized training in public or global health, such as an M.P.H or L.L.M, is preferred

  • Expertise in health law and policy and/or related fields such as international trade law and human rights law

  • Knowledge of and interest in academic program management and/or capacity building programs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to working with a diverse student body and faculty

  • Team approach to problem solving

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$66,783.00 - $126,720.23

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
