Requirements

The Administrative Assistant position in the Academic Resource Center (http://academicsupport.georgetown.edu/) (ARC) will serve as the first point of contact for the office, greeting all walk-in traffic, managing administrative processes, and providing customer service for a variety of functional areas. The purpose of this role is to support the ARC’s mission of providing and administering student disability accommodations, including direct assistance with the ARC’s test proctoring service. This position is highly administrative and requires a person with strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task, the ability to be flexible and proactive, and a genuine interest in working with students and colleagues across the university, while being responsive to working across differences. Providing a full range of administrative support to the Academic Resource Center, additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support for six ARC staff members within the office suite.

  • Staff the front desk of the physical office and manage a number of processes and procedures that require direct interaction with students, faculty, staff, and community members on a regular basis.

  • Perform general administrative duties, which supports the staff and student programs with the Center.

  • Manage various forms of office data, assisting with staff appointment scheduling, calendar maintenance, monitoring and ordering office supplies, and creating reports.

  • Provide regular assistance with the ARC’s in-house test proctoring operation.

Work Interactions

The Academic Resource Center is a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Student contact is extensive and substantial. Staff members work collaboratively within the office and with many other university-wide constituent groups. Staff members are expected to exercise a high degree of responsibility and independent judgment and occasionally work irregular or extended hours. The Executive Director of the Academic Resource Center will supervise this position.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 1-3 years of experience as an office manager or administrative assistant

  • Excellent organizational skills, combined with strong communication and writing skills

  • Ability to prioritize work with a strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrated flexibility in a dynamic work environment

  • Familiarity with Google and Microsoft Office suites, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of professional and polished communication

  • A high degree of professionalism and confidentiality

  • Ability to perform light to moderate physical activity and to provide physical support on site to student programs on an occasional basis

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience in a diverse, high intensity academic environment

  • Direct disability experience within an educational setting

  • Demonstrated experience in logistical oversight or administrative support

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$19.20 - $28.70

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
