Architect of the Capitol Inventory Technician in Washington DC, District Of Columbia

Summary This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center (CVC). The CVC is the public’s front door to the U.S. Capitol, offering tours and education programs as well as supporting congressional events. Our goal is to inform, involve and inspire every visitor to the U.S. Capitol. The CVC has 200 employees across five divisions: Visitor Services, Exhibits and Education, Retail, Communications and Marketing, and Planning, Operations and Evaluation. Responsibilities The individual selected for this position will: Provide support services in complex Gift Shop supply operations, coordination, inventory control, accountability, and disposal of excess and surplus property, including proper documentation, procedures, and policies. Conduct physical inventories, property disposal and surveys and make adjustments to and/or maintain inventory and stock account records. Identify Gift Shop inventory requirements and initiate, prepare, edit, and process requisitions for stock replenishments. Maintain stock at or within prescribed levels in a tidy and organized storeroom. Ensure all accountable property is properly marked and recorded prior to distribution or storage, properly documented, accounted for, and utilized. Preserve inventory for items needing special handling. Operate a computer to perform records search, data input, and data corrections, including processing of accountability records and transfer documents. Contact customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others to obtain material status information, follow up on urgently required items, and/or expedite delivery of materials to work sites. Be required to work Saturdays and holidays to meet the business needs of the organization. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen. You must be able to pass a drug test. Qualifications You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. It is available for your review on the OPM web site at OPM qualification standards Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-06 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with warehousing and maintaining a located stockroom; Managing inventory, including space allocation; and Accurately completing written paperwork via an electronic device for inventory.
