Global Marketing Senior Manager, Talent Development

What you will do

As a key member of the Marketing Excellence team, the Global Marketing Senior Manager of Talent Development will be instrumental in driving transformation of the career development of marketers at Amgen. This role will own leading, designing, and executing the Amgen Brand Management Development Program (ABMDP), aimed to elevate the marketing and leadership skills of rising brand leaders at Amgen. This role will also be responsible for supporting an early career talent acquisition strategy, and shaping career development opportunities for marketers at Amgen.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead Amgen's Marketing Excellence team in designing and executing a comprehensive program to enhance the marketing and leadership skills of rising marketing leaders (ABMDP).

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement a multi-year program focusing on senior marketer development.

  • Champion diversity and inclusion initiatives within ABMDP

  • Manage all aspects of ABMDP, including curriculum design, talent review calls, and mentorship programs.

  • Ensure documentation, key performance indicators (KPIs), and ongoing improvements are fostered within the program.

  • Design a structured mentorship framework to pair experienced leaders with rising talent, ensuring alignment with marketing leadership goals.

  • Influence the evolution of the Marketing Competency Model to address depth of expertise in marketing.

  • Partner with HR and marketing leaders to establish an early-career talent acquisition strategy.

Key Activities:

  • Work with senior leadership to identify top talent for the Amgen Brand Management Development program

  • Stay abreast of industry trends to ensure programs remain innovative and effective.

  • Collaborate on the development of an early-career talent acquisition strategy.

  • Influence Amgen’s Marketing Competency Model to ensure successful career development planning of Marketers in the organization

  • Manage project plans, budgets, and communication plans effectively both internally & with external vendors.

  • Regularly report program outcomes, KPIs, and success stories to senior leadership and other stakeholders.

  • Provide coaching and collaboration with stakeholders to identify gaps and align development program with organizational goals

  • Travel Expectations: Quarterly (for live external immersion opportunities in development program, and to Amgen headquarters)

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Or

Master’s degree and 4 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Or

Associate’s Degree and 10 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong marketing competence with industry experience & knowledge

  • Bias for action and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication skills and self-awareness of leadership style

  • Ability to build productive partnerships and collaborate effectively in a matrix organization.

  • Partner with external thought partners and a highly cross-functional team across levels

  • Advanced level of proficiency in making strategic choices and deliver commercial success, Marketing competencies.

  • Ability to influence up, down and across a global organization

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Track record to manage and deliver on projects to drive business results

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
