Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy Datacenter Air-Gapped Cloud (AGC) Design Manager to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.
The Datacenter Air-Gapped Cloud (AGC) Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield and retrofit engineering / design projects. This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of Datacenter buildings, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas, with a focus on secure or Air-Gapped Cloud design.

Responsibilities
The *Datacenter AGC Design Manager * will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts. They will be responsible for engineering/design from site due diligence through design development, permitting, construction, and turnover to operations. The role includes management, technical direction, decision-making, and overall leadership for our datacenter designs.
This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.
Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.
To be successful in this role the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scope, schedule, and budget of each respective project. The Datacenter AGC Design Manager will engage with key Microsoft stakeholders, as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering. In addition, the candidate will manage secure datacenter designs to include sensitive compartmentalized information facilities, secure work areas, or equivalent facilities/spaces.

Coordinate a team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
Have effective communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Possess a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design.
Must be able to work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment and do so with an even temperament.
Must be a person of integrity, be methodical, detailed-oriented with an effective work ethic.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
OR equivalent experience.
2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Clearance Verification : This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. Preferred / Additional Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmento OR equivalent experience.
6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
Registered / Chartered Engineer or Architect
Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, equipment and/or construction for mission critical or high-tech industry.
4+ years of experience in ICD-705 project experience
2+ years of TEMPEST project experience 2+ years of Air Gapped Cloud (AGC) project experience
Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
