The Director, Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) will lead the MSL team. MSLs are trained healthcare professionals whose primary role is to act as a conduit of scientific information between the Company and the medical community. Among other things, MSLs are responsible for cultivating and maintaining external relationships esp. with Health Care Providers (HCPs) and/or Health Care Decision Makers (HCDMs) to enable comprehensive scientific exchange around disease states and associated Company products. MSLs must maintain scientific expertise in the application of treatment guidelines and clinical data as it pertains to disease states and associated Company products. MSLs must be able to communicate complex medical and scientific concepts to a broad range of audiences. MSLs are field based members of the US Medical & Vigilance department.

The Director, MSLs will lead the MSL team to ensure that the respective territory engagement plans are effectively executed per defined targets, following Fresenius Kabi compliance rules and code of conduct and that relevant medical and scientific insight is routinely shared to optimize the Medical Affairs strategy for the specified portfolio. The Director, MSLs and the MSL team will also support execution of Medical Affairs strategy and activities where and as appropriate.

*This position may be worked remotely in the U.S., with frequent travel.

Responsibilities

Lead the MSL team ensuring achievement of compliant and effective healthcare professional interaction for scientific exchange related to disease states and/or associated Company products per predefined engagement plans and targets. Build the strategic approach and execution plan for the MSL team. Partner with medical and cross-functional colleagues compliantly to provide expertise and field insights to impact strategy. Manage budget across the team effectively to achieve objectives. Hire and develop training framework and materials for MSLs. Enhance team capabilities by implementing innovation to keep up with current trends and the environment. Develop and evolve/innovate meaningful reporting on MSL field activities. Strong cross-functional collaboration to ensure compliant In-field team excellence. Train MSLs and assess performance against goals of the MSL team. Collaborate with Medical Affairs colleagues to help support the execution of strategy which may include publication development and IIT evaluations. Establish and maintain relationships with HCPs and HCDMs to provide scientific exchange related to disease states and/or associated Company products. Collaborate with Global Medical Affairs in the support of USA-based clinical trials, both internal and external. Oversee and innovate on the development of educational materials and presentations to support internal and external medical and scientific exchange. Ensure adherence to compliant and timely reporting of adverse events and product complaints. Develop strategies to provide information on research developments and new concepts in medical treatment, giving perspective to field activities associated with growing existing products and bringing new products to market. Educate key products to clinical professors, teaching-hospital faculty, residents, and students. Provide medical information to internal/external health resources such as the sales force, outside health professions, public, and government.

Job Requirements Advanced degree is preferred (PhD, MD, PharmD) or Clinical Degree (RN, PA, NP) with a minimum 10 years of related experience. 3+ years of experience as an MSL/Senior MSL. 3+ years managing employees. 5+ years' experience leading field teams. Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry is required. Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop a team of highly performing and motivated individuals. Demonstrated skill in writing scientific documents. Knowledge of key therapeutic area(s) preferred. Knowledge of clinical trial design and process. Knowledge of applicable regulatory, legal and compliance standards. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Position will require 40% - 50% travel, including overnight stays. A valid US driver's license and clean driving record are required.

Salary range $142,929-215,000 annually
