PTC Therapeutics Senior IP Paralegal (Hybrid) in Warren, New Jersey

Job Description Summary:

The Senior IP Paralegal will provide legal support to the Company and Intellectual Property team, including IP filing and docket management (both for patents and trademarks), liaising with IP service providers, IP based contract review, drafting, and editing, or use thereof, and legal and administrative support for the IP Team's activities and IT systems, including template preparation, software administration, designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient processes/policies, troubleshooting, and generating IP reports.
The Senior IP Paralegal will also assist with efficient and effective work procedures and processes. This position requires: the ability to work effectively with various functions and teams within the Company; and exceptional judgment and analytical skills. This role requires a candidate who has a demonstrated ability to multitask, is detail-oriented, is able to prioritize and reprioritize as needed to meet deadlines and is a team-focused collaborator.*Candidate must be able to come to Warren, NJ office 3 days a week *Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • The Senior IP Paralegal will work with the IP Team relating to docketing, document management and database systems, including software administration, designing, implementing and maintaining efficient processes, troubleshooting, and generating reports, drafting, reviewing and revising IP presentations, training materials and other IP related documents or reports.
  • Respond to calls and emails regarding a variety of IP questions and other matters from domestic and international patent agents.
  • Monitors progress of patent cases and patent attorney/agent dockets through use of USPTO Patent Center, IP Management Software and Document Management System.
  • Work with Legal Operations to preparing billing, budget and forecasts; assists with tracking law firm billing and expenses.
  • Work with outside law firms and vendors to streamline communications, manage billing and invoicing, including invoice review and update of timekeeper rates.
  • Perform other administrative support duties as required including, but not limited to obtaining documents and signatures, drafting, reviewing and revising assignments and Power of Attorney, as necessary.
  • Help ensure adherence to relevant IP legal and regulatory requirements and Company policies as appropriate.
  • Perform other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's (preferred) or Associate's degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a corporate IP department.
  • Licensed NJ Notary or ability and willingness to obtain license.
  • Proven expertise with IP docketing software and working with Patent Attorney high volume dockets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage highly sensitive information.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently/with limited direct supervision in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of team members.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time-management including the ability to adapt to changing priority and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with contracts and legal documents.
  • Experience developing and/or implementing process or tools that result in greater efficiencies in a law department.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Logical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Paralegal certificate is a plus
